Microsoft Releases New OSS Tools for Windows Azure
At its Open Source India Conference, Microsoft announced the availability of a new set of developer tools and Software Development Kits (SDKs) for PHP developers who want to build applications for Windows Azure.
“We are working to give open source developers more access to our platforms,” said Vijay Rajagopalan, Principal Architect, Interoperability Strategy team, Microsoft. “One example of this is our support for an open and interoperable cloud, which we believe is critical for businesses, governments and organizations to take full advantage of cloud-enabled innovations. The new SDKs and tools we are announcing are an important step towards ensuring an open cloud that in turn brings greater flexibility to our partners and customers.”’
The software vendor presented the technology preview and global availability of the following tools and SDKs that support open source developers working in mixed IT environments:
Windows Azure has been designed from the ground up with a standards-based approach and the platform supports multiple Internet protocols including HTTP, XML, SOAP and REST —ensuring data portability.
Microsoft continues to work with many industry organizations to explore the meaning of openness in the cloud. Developer Choice is one of four foundational elements being explored, along with Data Portability, Standards and Ease of Migration and Deployment. The four foundational elements, along with practical and technical examples, are the basis for a broad industry conversation about cloud platform interoperability.
Microsoft’s continued focus on delivering comprehensive cloud services across all three layers [Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)] for businesses of all sizes has already seen strong momentum among customers and partners across the world and in India. For example, in India, over 6,000 applications are available on Windows Azure. Indian ISVs and SIs including Wipro, Infosys, TCS, HCL Technologies and Mahindra Satyam are building applications and solutions across verticals ranging from healthcare to banking to manufacturing for both local and global markets.

- Windows Azure Companion (new) Community Technology Preview (CTP): A new tool that aims to provide a seamless experience when installing and configuring PHP platform-elements (PHP runtime, extensions) and web-applications running on Windows Azure. This first CTP focuses on PHP, but it may be extended to be used for deploying any open source component or application that runs on Windows Azure
- Windows Azure Tools for Eclipse for PHP (update): A plug-in for PHP developers using the Eclipse development environment, which provides tools to create, test and deploy web applications targeting Windows Azure
- Windows Azure Command Line Tools for PHP (update): A command-line tool, which offers PHP developers a simple way to package PHP based applications in order to deploy to Windows Azure
- Windows Azure SDK for PHP version 2.0 (update): It enables PHP developers to extend their applications by leveraging Windows Azure services (like Blobs, tables and queues) in their web applications whether they run on Windows Azure or on another cloud platform.

Google Now allows Gmail Invitation via Cell phones

How to Lock Your CD-ROM Drive
The CD-ROM drive is one of the most integral components of a computer. Without it we can’t play CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, play CD-dependent games, open documents, install programs and Operating Systems, and write files.
However, if you’re sharing your PC with others, especially at home, every user tends to exploit the CD-ROM drive. Without your knowledge, some users will use it to copy files to your PC or write files from your PC.
Also, using it too much can affect the performance and durability of the drive. As the owner of the computer, you should do something about this to limit the use of the CD-ROM drive. The only solution is to lock it.
Locking your CD-ROM drive serves many purposes. For one, locking it restricts unauthorized use. You can also lock the drive and use it as a Parental Control
for your children. If it’s busted, you can lock it to prevent other users from placing a CD into the drive.
Windows does not have a tool that locks CD-ROM drives. What you can do is download and install the CDRom-Lock software
. The program’s tray icon offers a very convenient way of locking and unlocking all your CD-ROM drives in two easy clicks.

Save the setup file in your computer by clicking Save File.

When you write an email, you write it to someone (or, of course, to someone special).
Yet the To: field is not the only place to put an addressee. Two more fields accept recipients. They are called Cc: and Bcc:, and you probably have already seen them — the former at least — in your email program. Let's find out what Cc: and Bcc: are for.
Cc: — Carbon Copy
"Cc" is short for "carbon copy". Those naming and designing this email feature probably had the real world counterpart to email in mind: letters. Carbon copy paper made it possible to send the same letter to two (or even more if you hit the keys really hard) different people without the onerous task of having to write or type it twice.
The analogy works well. An email is sent to the person in the To: field, of course.
A verbatim copy of the message is also sent to all the addresses listed in the Cc: field, though. Yes, there can be more than one email address in this field, and they all get a copy. To enter more than one address in the Cc: field, separate them with commas.
The Shortcomings of Cc:
When you send a message to more than one address using the Cc: field, both the original recipient and all the recipients of the carbon copies see the To: and Cc: fields including all the addresses in them.
This means that every recipient gets to know the email addresses of all the persons that received your message. This is usually not desirable. Nobody likes their email address exposed to the public.
Full Cc: fields also don't look all that good. They can become quite long and grow big on the screen. Lots of email addresses will overshadow little message text.
Bcc: — Blind Carbon Copy
The long version of "Bcc" is "blind carbon copy". If this gives you the image of an empty sheet of paper — a carbon copy without text —, that's not quite what email's Bcc: is up to.
The Bcc: field helps you deal with the problems created by Cc:. As it is the case with Cc:, a copy of the message goes to every single email address appearing in the Bcc: field.
The difference is that neither the Bcc: field itself nor the email addresses in it appear in any of the copies (and not in the message sent to the person in the To: field either).
The only recipient address that will be visible to all recipients is the one in the To: field. So, to keep maximum anonymity you can put your own address in the To: field and use Bcc: exclusively to address your message.
Bcc: lets you send a newsletter, too, or send a message to "undisclosed recipients".
